Located within a coastal wetland buffer comprised of rocky and steep terrain, this deck extension is designed to span across the existing terraced yard and the stone retaining walls. Special pressure-treated LVL framing, with joist spans of 20 feet and beam spans of 30 feet, help minimize footing excavation and potential disturbance to the retaining walls.

Planting mitigation along the base of the decorative skirting consists of hardy native perennials, which serve to stabilize the existing slopes while obscuring the deck footings and the skirting base as it jogs upward to follow the rising terrain.
